Paleo Pantry

Recently, I have had some health issues that have resulted in me changing my diet BIG TIME! I was working with a Naturopath who thought that I should try out a more “paleo” way of eating while my body was trying to heal. I was in a place of feeling so shitty so often that I was up for trying anything.

First, I had to do research and learn more about what eating paleo meant and how I could apply it to my lifestyle. The good news, there are endless amounts of amazing resources in the paleo community.

my go-to paleo resources:

blogs (PaleOMGAgainst All Grain, Predominantly Paleo)

books (Practical PaleoIt Starts with Food, Juli Bauer’s Paleo Cookbook)

instagram (Paleo Cupboard, Stupid Easy Paleo, Living Loving Paleo)

snapchat (@DianeSanfilippo, @paleOMG)

& my personal favorite, podcasts (Balanced Bites)

In the beginning, I signed up for a local paleo food delivery service that made my transition into paleo so much easier. Check out Pete’s Paleo, they deliver all over the country and the food is so freakin’ good. I cannot explain how much easier my transition to paleo was because of Pete’s Paleo. It made getting the best quality food in my system a little easier since I was having such low energy and meal prepping was the list thing on my to do list.  It has been a few months now and although my physical health hasn’t improved that dramatically just yet, my mental health has. I have much less brain fog and feel a little less like a zombie on my bad days. I am hoping that the physical benefits of eating paleo are coming soon!

Through this journey, I realized just how much of an impact what we eat has on our overall health. I have always known that eating healthy was important for weight management, but it was not until recently that I realized, everyone cannot tolerate all foods equally and that I needed to check in and see what was making me more or less healthy.

The most surprising realization I came to was just how little my Dr.’s emphasized anything having to do with diet. Until I started working with a Holistic Doctor as well as diving full speed into my own research, there was no way I could have even realized that what I was eating could affect me in the way it was. Everyone was willing to write a prescription but I never felt like no one cared about getting to the root of the problem. I am trying my best to be proactive and stay on top of these issues as much as I can so that I can live a happy healthy life.

I know that everyone has a way of eating that works best for them. Below are some paleo products that work for me!

Paleo Pantry

The Nuttzo butter is so great for spreading apple slices for a snack.

Jilz Crackers have been a complete game changer for me. After a few weeks of eating paleo, I was craving a “crunch” BIG time. These crackers are great for dipping and I normally eat them with Wild Planet Tuna. I like to mix the tuna with some diced pickles, mustard, avocado and some salt and pepper and spread it on some Jilz Crackers. I also love dipping Jilz Crackers in Bitchin’ Sauce. Chipotle is my favorite flavor but you really can’t go wrong with any of the flavors they offer. Bitchin’ Sauce is a total game changer!

Snip Chips, The New Primal Spicy Grass Feed Beef Jerky and Navitas Naturals Organic Trail Mix are all great to have in your car or pantry for when you need to grab a handful of something quick!

Primal Kitchen Dark Chocolate Almond Bar with Grass Fed Collagen  are great for an easy breakfast or afternoon snack. With eating paleo, most of your meals require prep time so it’s nice to have stuff that is easy to grab in a pinch. These bars are filling and taste great! They also just came out with a Coconut Cashew bar that is INSANELY yummy.

I use PaleoChef Sriracha Sauce  and Organic Coconut Aminos together when I am stir frying veggies and or meat. This combo replaced my old junkie teriyaki sauce that had a shit ton of added sugar and chemicals… gross.

Last but certainly not least, Olives. Basically, because they are my favorite!

There are A LOT more paleo products that I use and love and I plan on writing about them as well, so… stay tuned!
