How to Supercharge Your Tea

How to supercharge your tea

I love coffee. Like a lot. But, I try not to drink it past lunch and here’s why… I love sleep even more than coffee. Drinking caffeine later in the day may eff with my sleep and I don’t play that game. Don’t get me wrong, if I am trying to stay up late,  I will drink coffee past lunch but if it’s just a regular Tuesday at home, no way! Sleep is key.

I crave something hot and tasty in the afternoons and my go to is peppermint tea. Not only do I love the flavor, I also love the health benefits. It’s caffeine free so I don’t have to worry about missing any of my zzz’s.

Peppermint tea has been used forever to aid in digestive health as it has a calming effect on intestines and digestive tract.  I have Crohn’s Disease so this is an added bonus for me. It is also known for curbing stress, supporting the immune system and promotes weight loss. Bring on the tea bags!

If you are thinking, wow she must just really love tea enough to dedicate an entire blog post to it! That is true, buuuuuut that’s not all folks! The best part of my tea time: COLLAGEN.

That’s right, I add two heaping tablespoons of collagen hydrolysate into my peppermint tea to make it SUPER DUPER freaking healthy! I like to take it the limits baby.

Hydrolyzed collagen is great for your metabolism, hair, skin, and pretty much all of our bodies connective tissues. It contains a variety of amino acids in concentrated levels that can help reduce inflammation, provide relief from joint pain, promote weight loss, heal digestive tract, support bone health, and even help you sleep better. Collagen for the win!

Oh and the best part, two scoops of hydrolysate collagen has 11 grams of protein. Just enough to tie me over til dinner so I don’t stuff my face with cookies at 3:30pm! You should know, that it’s completely tasteless to me. When I mix it with my peppermint tea the flavor and consistency of the tea isn’t changed at all!

Get that pinky up in the air and get to sippin’ !!! Cheers!
